Church Warden and Treasurer

My name is John Scase and I have lived in this area for most of my life! I went to school in Gt Ellingham before going to Thetford Grammar School and university.

I have been churchwarden at All Saints in Rocklands since 1999 and I am also Treasurer to the PCC. In addition to this, I have the dubious honour of being chief organ pumper, grass cutter and general maintenance man for the church.

I am married to Barbara and we have three children, all now grown up, and seven grandchildren who are scattered all over the country. One of our daughters, Julie, also lives in Rocklands (and works as Executive Head at Gt Ellingham and Rocklands schools).

I am also a school governor and have had involvement in most local organisations over the years.

I am Barbara Scase and I have lived in Rocklands for nearly 50 years. I am secretary to All Saints PCC and also do much of the domestic organisation in the church e.g. flower arranging, cleaning etc.

I have been involved in many activities in the village over the years and am still an active member of New Beginnings (a group mainly for women), the Shellrock Fellowship Group (a Bible study group who meet weekly during term time at various members’ houses) and I organise a group of Embroiderers in my house every two weeks. I sing in the Benefice choir and also with the Wymondham Choral Society. I am also a member of the Broderers’ Guild at Norwich Cathedral where I spend time helping with the beautiful vestments and keeping them in good order.

I also organise various fundraising events for All Saints church during the year, including a garden party known as ‘Barbara’s Day’ (soon to be called ‘Lunch on the Lawn at Barbara’s’), the annual Flower Festival, the Harvest Supper and also the Advent Lunch (in conjunction with St Peter’s).
